Week 3 Assignment

st Shot: This medium shot serves as an establishing shot for the film opening, with the setting being a messy detective's office in the early hours of the morning, with very low key lighting and in muted colors. The shot pans across the office until the second shot appears. The music at this point is frantic jazz music.

nd Shot: This shot is a close up of the protagonist in the middle of her office. The panning stops as soon as the music stops, and the detective says her first dramatic line. This begins the monologue. After this shot, the monologue continues as a voice over. The lighting is still very minimalist.

rd Shot: The music comes back in, but now it is smoother, more low key jazz music. The cut between this shot and the last one is a jump cut, and the colors are still muted. The car begins to pull away and the camera angle pans upwards and gets wider.  The narration continues.

th Shot: The dramatic monologue is still going until the camera angle is wide enough to get the landscape in. The music is the background continues, and the lighting and colors are still the same low-key lighting and muted, if not black and white. This could be the place to put the title of the movie too.

th Shot: The protagonist is driving her vehicle, and not speaking but the dramatic narration is dubbed in. This shot was chosen to be more introspective, so the narration should get a little bit more intense or direct at this point. The cut between this shot and the last one should be a jump cut or a fade, whichever one looks nicer. The lighting and colors are the same.

th Shot: A jump cut separates this shot and the last one, and the mirror also indicates more introspection and retrospection, so the intensity and movement of the dialogue should increase. This could also mean that the music should pick a little bit up in intensity, but it might sound too frantic. The lighting and colors should be the same as before for consistency's sake.
